Puppets for VBS Program: To the Edge

Earlier this month, our family helped with our church's Vacation Bible School program by doing the puppet shows. This year's theme was "To the Edge - Encounter the God of the Universe." It was hard work and really gave our arms a work-out, but it was a lot of fun, too!

The puppet scripts came with two introductions, two scripts for each day of the week, and two closing scripts. You could choose to use only the scripts with Astro the monkey, or only the scripts with the entire flight crew, or use them all. We used them all. Astro's talk was done during the opening of each day, and the flight crew scene was done during the closing of each day. Astro's talk was shorter, and the kids really love it when the puppets sing a song, so we added a short song at the end of each morning session with Astro. We didn't get ALL of the puppet shows recorded, but here are the videos of the ones we did get...

This was done two Sundays before VBS began during the children's sermon, to give an introduction to the kids and workers in our church.

DAY 3 - "God's Forgiveness" - We didn't get any videos this day.

This was done during the children's sermon on the Sunday after VBS ended.

* FLIGHT CREW's CLOSING
We did this one during the final closing program for the kids and parents on Sunday night.

     

Puppets for Jungle Safari VBS Program

Last week, our church had Vacation Bible School every morning from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. Our family was thrilled to be able to help out this year with our puppet ministry. It was a lot of work, and very tiring, but also a lot of fun.

This year's theme was Jungle Safari. The curriculum did not have any puppet scripts to use for the opening session, so we searched online to find skits and songs that would match each day's lesson.

Day 1 - God is Our Creator (Covers the 7 Days of Creation)

Day 2 - God is Our Provider (God's provision for Elijah)

Day 3 - God is our Protector (Daniel in the Lion's Den)

Day 4 - God is our Savior (Salvation story with Toadly the frog)

Day 5 - God is our King (music about serving our King)

2013-2014 School Year FINISHED / Random Pictures to Share

I have apparently "dropped the ball" on blogging about our school year. Here we are, finished with our main curriculum for this school year, and I haven't posted anything new since February! Maybe I can do a better job of posting next school year. In the meantime, here are some random pix from the last three months of some things we have done. MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS

 

March 21st
Both kids saw their Allergist and had some testing done.
JJ is still highly allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, and also shellfish
He is no longer allergic to eggs

April 18th
EL had a Sleep Study done.
She has mild Sleep Apnea.

May 18-23
A trip to visit family up North and help Grandma S.
as she underwent surgery to clean out a carotid artery.

After we came home from helping Grandma S., we finished up our main curriculum for this school year, then purchased a family membership to the local pool. We will continue working on some Math and English throughout the Summer.

DRUM LESSONS for JJ
He currently goes twice per month and is learning a lot.



DRAGONFLIES DANCE and DRAMA CAMP
This was a one-day Saturday class for Special Needs.

Siblings are encouraged to join in, so JJ took part as well.

 

EL at LEGO CLUB
A club that encourages interaction, cooperation, and social skills.
Both kids participate in this twice per month, and I am a volunteer.

JJ's 5th year in CUB SCOUTS
He won 3rd place at the Pinewood Derby for the Webelos group.
This was his last year to race in the derby and his first year to place.
 

 

PUPPET MINISTRY

In our latest performance, I am the pink female puppet.

JJ is the green male puppet, the tiger, and the chicken.

David is the old farmer (as well as the technical engineer).

EL is the dog and the little pink puppet with yellow hair.
