WELCOME!

WELCOME! I used this blog to share our family's homeschooling thoughts and experiences. Our oldest child, EL, finished her formal education in May 2017, and we graduated our son, JJ, from High School in May 2021. I will leave this blog up for anyone who wishes to read our curriculum reviews or see what types of field trips and/or activities we participated in.

Summer Break has Begun

On June 1st, we finished our curriculum for this school year. The kids enjoyed learning about Alexander the Great, the Olympics, and other Greek stuff during our last week. Then, the following week started our Summer break. It was an incredibly busy week for us - some of it good, some of it not so good - but, I'm just going to highlight a few of the fun events we attended...
On Sunday, June 3rd, our family attended an event sponsored by a non-profit agency that provides services for families dealing with special needs. The event included lunch, shows, games, and rides. Overall, we enjoyed the event, and I took too many pictures to be able to share them all; but, here are a couple pictures of the kids getting a chance to walk a llama through an obstacle course.

On Monday, the 4th, our VBS program started. I was a helper in Coyote's class this year (3rd & 4th graders), and Road Runner was allowed to take part in the next class up, even though she is technically too old for it. It was an exhausting week, but we enjoyed our adventures on Promise Island!

On Wednesday night, tickets were given to us to attend a nearby shrine circus. Going to this was fun, but it was sort of bad timing for us, being in the middle of VBS week. The next day, the kids were too overwhelmed and exhausted to head to VBS right away, so I asked someone to sub for me until we were able to get there.

And, on Saturday, our Cub Scout pack had their first Raingutter Regatta. For those who don't know what that is, the boys each get a boat kit and design their own boats to be raced inside of rain gutters. The way to make them go is by blowing on the sails. Coyote came up with the idea to design his boat like a Fire Boat.  He enjoyed racing it.

This week, we have swimming lessons, play dates, and other fun stuff to do; but, we are trying to take things a bit slower.
