Welcome to SONset Academy, the site of the Stankus family school! We have been a homeschooling family since the Summer of 2005, starting out with our oldest using the Learning to Read program from A.C.E. We continued using A.C.E., along with a mix of other curricula, for 4 years.
2009-2015 we used MY FATHER'S WORLD for the majority of our subjects: Bible, History, Science, Music and Art. It is a boxed curriculum that we were able to use with both children at the same time. A wonderful curriculum that we had a lot of fun with! I began blogging about it in 2010 and, if you read these early posts, you will notice I was referring to EL as Roadrunner at that time, and to JJ as Coyote.
In 2016, we switched from My Father's World to NOTGRASS HISTORY and focused on a year of Government/Civics by using "Uncle Sam and You." That was EL's Senior year, and JJ's 8th grade year.
2017 - EL graduated in the Spring with a Certificate of Completion, and JJ began High School in the Fall. We used an eclectic mix of curricula with him over his 4 years of High School, finishing up in May 2021.

My husband, David, was our "Principal." While I, Victoria, was the teacher/educator. Homeschooling has been very challenging at times, but also fun, and I'm thankful I had the opportunity to do it.
