WELCOME!

WELCOME! I used this blog to share our family's homeschooling thoughts and experiences. Our oldest child, EL, finished her formal education in May 2017, and we graduated our son, JJ, from High School in May 2021. I will leave this blog up for anyone who wishes to read our curriculum reviews or see what types of field trips and/or activities we participated in.

Recap of the past few weeks

Over the past few weeks, aside from our usual "readin', ritin', and rithmetic," we also....

...Studied about JAPAN
...Tried a new kind of beef noodle soup. (It was wayyy too salty!)

...Tried our hand at making origami animals (That didn't turn out too well. Wayyy too complicated!)

...Learned more about the ocean and its different levels.
*The ocean has 3 levels to it:  sunlit zone, twilight zone, and midnight zone.
...Learned a bit about beaches and estuaries.
* An estuary is a point where the sea water and the fresh water come together.
...Attended a curriculum sale/swap.

...Attended a Creation seminar with Gary Bates from Creation Ministries International.

...And, went on a field trip to visit area businesses (Flower shop, Grocery Store, and Bank).
* The kids got to turn carnations into bunnies, tour a grocery store (bakery, freezer, produce, checkout, etc.), and cash in their change for dollar bills.

THIS week, we started on RUSSIA; and, we are also focusing some of our time on Easter (Resurrection Sunday). We are going through the "resurrection eggs," reading stories of Easter, drawing pictures, and watching music videos - all to help us focus on the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord. Here are a couple of the pictures the kids drew. (We have been discussing how the signs of Spring, bunnies, and eggs are all symbols of new life - just like the new life we have when we have faith in Jesus.)
